Wednesday

It's Wednesday morning, about 9.30, and I'm not sure what to do with myself. I need a sweater and also hand lotion (it's dry here!) and rain gear but I'm not up to getting lost on my own. Everyone else is at their placements now. I could go over to the office now, but I'm being my cheap self and don't want to pay a whole 6 soles round trip.
I'm looking at my map and I could walk and then take a taxi back. There are various points of interest I haven't seen. Plaza De Armas is the main central park and I haven't been there yet. It's a bit further than the office though. I think I go there Saturday on my city tour. I guess I'll go for a walk. See how that turns out.




I made it to the office! I only got slightly lost 1 time, so all is well. I was finally able to buy some hand lotion, a notebook, and a cute baby hat for a friend.

I think I walked past the black market on my way. The locals use the market to avoid sales tax, which I believe is at 18%. An entire street was blocked off and there were blue tarps covering about 100 stalls. I didn't go through because I had my backpack, but I may have to check it out. I also swung by the small market near the office that I had been to previously. That's where I bought the baby hat. I was also looking for a sweater, but there are so many choices it's a bit overwhelming. 


I spent a bit of time at the office and skyped Chuck. Mom and Dad, Chuck is going to set it up so we can phone skype. Now that I've been here about an hour, it's time for me to go. Not enough time to walk back, so I have to pony up some change for a taxi.
