Finally arrived in Lima. Here are my updates from the plane (which did not have wifi.)
So I'm at my gate after finally making it through the airport. It
took us 3 rounds of the parking lot until we decided we couldn't find
the closest parking ramp and would just pick a spot. That spot ended
up being crammed between an suv and a jumbotron pickup that couldn't
park between the lines. I had a sandwich at Au Bon Pain which was, of
course, mediocre. I kissed Chuck goodbye and started to tear up
before going through security. As I was taking off my shoes, Chuck
called. I had left my newly tailored scrubs in the car. So to the back
of the line I went. I now stand here (no more seats) already confused
by announcements in Spanish. looks like I'm boarding. See you in Lima.
Plane still hasn't taken off yet but I've passed my fears and am now
excited! And no, I have not taken any Xanax. I feel pretty good so
hopefully I won't need any. Still waiting to confirm there's an open
bar...
Almost two hours into the flight and we were served dinner! Fruit cup,
bread roll, chocolate, and choice of chicken and rice or Mac n cheese.
I didn't test the open bar but decided water would be better. We've
flown over some beautiful islands and now there is clear blue water
out the window and white, fluffy clouds. It's a new plane, great
service, but no wifi! So I'm spending the time watching the Social
Network.
At some time during my flight, we flew over some beautiful islands, I think they may have been the Keys.
Once I arrived, my first order of business was to get to my gate so I could find a nice place to sleep. I finally found my way to the security line only to find out that domestic departures were closed! They don't open until 1a, 3 hours from now. Luckily I found a Starbucks (thank you global economy) and have obtained free wifi. I don't know what I'll do for the next 3 hours. I suppose text Chuck and browse facebook?
