So it's 5:30p on Friday and I leave in less than 24 hours. I've spent today buying a few odds and ends and procrastinating. I am absolutely overwhelmed that I will be gone for 6 weeks by myself. I've set up documents for my fiance Chuck, my parents, and myself. A few days ago I did a trial packing, and everything fit. However, little things keep coming up that I need to remember to bring. Hopefully it will still all fit in my carry on suitcase and backpack.
While I was at Target this afternoon, I decided on host gifts; tea. Passion tea by Tazo is quite yummy and luckily it's made in the US (I think). I've spent weeks stressing about what to get, but I think something simple and consumable is a safe bet.
So, my first stop tomorrow is Lima, Peru. I have an overnight layer in the airport and early on Sunday I will leave for my destination: Cusco. Located 11,000 ft up, Cusco was the site of the the capital of the Incan Empire. I will be learning Spanish, seeing the sites, and hopefully will brush up on my history over the next two weeks.
There is packing to do, and documents to double check. But not before being preceded by procrastination. Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight.
